Wiskunde: Parabolen I

Wil je een parabool tekenen? Dan begin je altijd met een tabel die je x-waarden en y-waarden laat zien. Deze tabel heeft meestal x-waarden van -3 tot 3, maar dat kan variëren.

Elke parabool heeft zijn eigen formule, zoals y = x² - 2. Het enige wat je hoeft te doen is de x-waarde in deze formule stoppen en uitrekenen wat y wordt. Neem bijvoorbeeld x = -3: dan wordt y = (-3)² - 2 = 9 - 2 = 7.

Het coolste aan parabolen is dat ze symmetrisch zijn! Dit betekent dat de linkerkant van je tabel precies hetzelfde is als de rechterkant. Als je dus weet dat x = -3 bij y = 7 hoort, dan weet je automatisch dat x = 3 ook bij y = 7 hoort.

Pro tip: Door de symmetrie hoef je maar de helft van de tabel uit te rekenen - de andere helft kun je gewoon kopiëren!
