La Ley de las Proporciones Múltiples de Dalton

¿Te has preguntado por qué el agua siempre tiene la misma fórmula H₂O y no H₃O o H₄O? Todo se debe a una regla genial que descubrió John Dalton estudiando los pesos de los elementos.

La Ley de las Proporciones Múltiples dice algo súper lógico: cuando dos elementos se combinan para formar diferentes compuestos, los pesos de uno de ellos que se combinan con un peso fijo del otro están relacionados como números enteros sencillos. Por ejemplo, mira los compuestos del cloro y oxígeno: Cl₂O, Cl₂O₃, Cl₂O₅, Cl₂O₇ - ¡siempre números enteros!

Este descubrimiento fue clave para que Dalton se diera cuenta de que la materia está hecha de partículas pequeñísimas llamadas átomos. Es como descubrir que todo está construido con bloques indivisibles que siempre se combinan en cantidades exactas.

💡 Dato curioso: Esta ley demostró que los átomos son reales y que no se pueden dividir en la formación de compuestos, ¡como piezas de un rompecabezas perfecto!

El ejemplo con el cobre muestra esto claramente: Cu₂O tiene 88.78% de cobre, mientras que CuO tiene 79.75% de cobre. ¡Las proporciones siempre cuadran matemáticamente!
