Un porcentaje representa una cantidad como partes de 100. Esto significa que cuando hablamos de un 30%, nos referimos a 30 de cada 100 partes. Los porcentajes se pueden representar de tres formas diferentes: como porcentaje (con el símbolo %), como fracción (con denominador 100 o simplificada) y como número decimal.

Por ejemplo, 30% equivale a la fracción 3/10 y al decimal 0,3. Otros ejemplos comunes son: 25% = 1/4 = 0,25; 50% = 1/2 = 0,5; y 75% = 3/4 = 0,75. Estas equivalencias son súper útiles para realizar cálculos más rápido.

Para calcular el porcentaje de una cantidad, multiplicamos esa cantidad por el porcentaje expresado en decimal. Por ejemplo, para calcular el 35% de 3.500, multiplicamos 3.500 × 0,35 = 1.225. También podemos usar la fórmula: Valor Actual × (Porcentaje ÷ 100) = Resultado.

💡 Truco práctico: Para encontrar rápidamente el valor de un porcentaje, primero conviértelo a decimal (dividiendo por 100) y luego multiplica por la cantidad. Por ejemplo, 40% de 250 = 0,40 × 250 = 100.

También podemos encontrar qué porcentaje representa un valor respecto a otro. Si tenemos un Valor Actual (VA) de $600 y un Valor Nominal (VN) de $2.000, usamos la fórmula: (VN ÷ VA) × 100 = Porcentaje. En este caso, (2.000 ÷ 600) × 100 = 333,33%, lo que significa que $2.000 es el 333,33% de $600.

Inversamente, si queremos saber de qué número es el 4% igual a 9, planteamos: 4% de x = 9. Entonces, 0,04x = 9, por lo tanto x = 9 ÷ 0,04 = 225.
