Bir pozitif tam sayının karesine eşit olan sayıya tamkare sayı denir.

Ömeğin; 12 = 1
42 = 16
72 = 49

Tamkare Sayılar ve Karekök Kavramı

Tamkare sayılar aslında çok basit - bir pozitif tam sayının kendisiyle çarpımına eşit olan sayılar bunlar. Mesela 3×3=9, o yüzden 9 bir tamkare sayı.

En sık karşılaştığın tamkare sayıları ezberlemen işini kolaylaştırır: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81... Bu sayılar sırasıyla 1², 2², 3², 4², 5², 6², 7², 8², 9² şeklinde elde ediliyor.

Karekök alma ise tam tersini yapmak demek. "Bu sayı hangi sayının karesi?" sorusunun cevabı karekök. √ sembolüyle gösteriliriz ve "√25" yi "karekök yirmibeş" diye okuruz.
