Simyadan Modern Kimyaya Yolculuk

Kimyadan önce simya (alşimi) vardı. Simyacılar kurşunu altına çevirmeye ve ölümsüzlük iksirini bulmaya çalışıyorlardı. Tabii ki bunlar imkansızdı ama yaptıkları deneyler sonucunda barut, boya, sabun gibi günlük hayatta kullandığımız birçok şeyi keşfettiler.

Simya bilimsel temeli olmayan, sadece deneme-yanılmaya dayanan bir çalışma biçimiydi. Ama damıtma, süzme, kristallendirme gibi bugün hala kullandığımız teknikleri geliştirdiler. Bu yöntemler modern kimyanın temelini oluşturdu.

Önemli isimler şunlar: Empedokles her şeyin hava, su, toprak, ateşten oluştuğunu söyledi. Democritus atom fikrini ortaya attı. Cabir Bin Hayyan ilk kimya laboratuvarını kurdu ve çok önemli asitleri keşfetti.

Bilgi Kutusu: Robert Boyle element tanımını yapan "kuşkucu kimyager", Lavoisier ise modern kimyanın babası sayılır ve yanma olayını açıklayarak kütle korunumu kanununu buldu.
