Past Simple: Il Verbo "To Be" e i Verbi Regolari

Iniziamo con il past simple del verbo "to be": è super facile perché hai solo due forme da ricordare! Was per I/he/she/it e were per you/we/they.

Facile, no?

Quindi "Did you like it?" non "Did you liked it?"

Solo "did" indica il passato!

Past Simple Irregolare e Past Continuous

I verbi irregolari sono un po' più impegnativi perché cambiano forma completamente: find diventa found, go diventa went. Ma tranquillo, con la pratica diventeranno automatici!

Il past continuous si forma con was/were + verbo con -ing. Usalo per azioni che erano in corso nel passato: "I was studying when you called" (stavo studiando quando hai chiamato).

Le domande del past continuous sono dirette: sposti was/were all'inizio. "Were you sleeping?"

Per le question words (what, where, when), mettile semplicemente prima di "did": "Where did you go?"

Past Continuous: Azioni in Svolgimento

La formula è was/were + verbo con -ing.

Per le domande, sposta was/were all'inizio: "Was she eating a burger?" Le risposte brevi sono semplicissime: "Yes, she was" o "No, she wasn't".

"I was walking home when I met Sarah" - stavi camminando (azione in corso) quando hai incontrato Sarah (azione specifica).

Past Simple vs Past Continuous: Quando Usare Cosa

Le parole chiave ti aiutano: while introduce spesso il past continuous ("While I was studying..."), when introduce il past simple ("When the phone rang...").

Spesso li usi insieme per creare storie dinamiche: "I was doing homework when my friend called."

"While I was cooking (contesto), I burned dinner (evento)!"
