¿Qué es el Simple Past?

El Simple Past es el tiempo que usas cuando quieres hablar de cosas que ya terminaron completamente. Es como cuando le cuentas a tus amigos qué hiciste el fin de semana pasado.

Lo usas para tres cosas principales: describir acciones completadas en el pasado (como "estudié ayer"), hablar de eventos específicos que ocurrieron en un momento determinado, y establecer un marco temporal claro en el pasado.

💡 Tip clave: Si la acción ya terminó y no tiene conexión con el presente, usa Simple Past.

Verbos Regulares - Terminación -d

Los verbos regulares siguen patrones fijos que son súper fáciles de aprender. Cuando el verbo termina en 'e', solo agregas -d al final.

Por ejemplo: love se convierte en loved $"He loved his wife" = Él amaba a su esposa$ . Otro ejemplo es arrive que se vuelve arrived $"I arrived five minutes ago" = Llegué hace cinco minutos$ .

💡 Recuerda: Si ya termina en 'e', solo agrega 'd'. ¡Así de simple!

Verbos Regulares - Terminación -ed

Para la mayoría de verbos regulares, agregas -ed al final. Pero ojo: si el verbo termina en consonante + 'y', cambias la 'y' por 'i' y luego agregas -ed.

Walk se convierte en walked $"They walked around the city" = Ellos caminaron por la ciudad$ . Con verbos como marry, cambias la 'y': married $"She got married 5 times" = Ella se casó 5 veces$ .

💡 Truco: Consonante + y = cambia 'y' por 'i' + ed. Vocal + y = solo agrega -ed.

Estructura: Afirmativa, Negativa e Interrogativa

Las formas del Simple Past siguen patrones específicos que debes memorizar. Para verbos regulares como play: afirmativa es "I played", negativa "I did not play", e interrogativa "Did I play?".

La estructura negativa siempre usa did not (o didn't) + verbo en infinitivo. Para preguntas, empiezas con Did + sujeto + verbo en infinitivo.

💡 Importante: En negativas y preguntas, el verbo principal regresa a su forma base (infinitivo sin 'to').

Verbos Irregulares

Los verbos irregulares no siguen las reglas normales y debes memorizarlos. Por ejemplo, go se convierte en went (no en "goed").

Para el verbo go: afirmativa "She went to the park", negativa "She did not go to the park", interrogativa "Did she go to the park?". Nota cómo en negativa e interrogativa usas la forma base go, no went.

💡 Estrategia: Haz tarjetas con los verbos irregulares más comunes. ¡La práctica hace al maestro!
