# VERB TENSES

PRESENT TENSES

Present Simple Tense
Used to describe actions, situations, or facts that are regular, general, or always true

Tiempos de Presente

El Present Simple es tu mejor amigo para hablar de rutinas y hechos generales. Piensa en todo lo que haces habitualmente: "I play football every Tuesday" o "She studies French".

La clave está en recordar que con he/she/it añades -s o -es al verbo. Para preguntas y negaciones, usa do/does: "Do you like pizza?" o "He doesn't watch TV".

El Present Continuous describe lo que está pasando ahora mismo o planes cercanos. Solo necesitas am/is/are + verbo-ing: "I'm texting my friend" o "We're meeting tomorrow".

¡Truco! Si puedes decir "ahora mismo" en la frase, usa Present Continuous. Si es una rutina, usa Present Simple.

Present Perfect y Present Perfect Continuous

El Present Perfect conecta el pasado con el presente. Usa have/has + participio pasado para acciones que empezaron antes pero siguen siendo importantes: "I've finished my homework" (ya está hecho y me afecta ahora).

Es perfecto para experiencias sin tiempo específico: "Have you ever been to London?" No importa cuándo, solo si ha pasado.

El Present Perfect Continuous es para acciones que empezaron antes y continúan: have/has + been + verbo-ing. "I've been studying for two hours" significa que empezaste hace dos horas y sigues estudiando.

El Past Simple es súper directo: acción terminada en tiempo pasado específico. "I went to the cinema yesterday" o "She didn't call me last night".

¡Ojo! Past Simple siempre necesita un tiempo específico (yesterday, last week, in 2020).

PRESENT TENSES

Present Simple Tense
Used to describe actions, situations, or facts that are regular, general, or always true

Tiempos de Pasado Avanzados

El Past Continuous pinta el escenario de lo que estaba pasando: was/were + verbo-ing. "I was watching Netflix when you called" - describe la acción en progreso que fue interrumpida.

El Past Perfect es como una máquina del tiempo que va más atrás. Usa had + participio pasado para mostrar qué pasó primero: "When I arrived, the movie had already started" (la peli empezó antes de que llegases).

El Past Perfect Continuous combina ambos conceptos: had been + verbo-ing para acciones que duraron hasta cierto punto del pasado. "I had been waiting for an hour when the bus finally came".

Consejo pro: Estos tiempos perfectos suenan complicados, pero piensa en ellos como formas de organizar eventos en orden cronológico.

Present Simple Tense

Tiempos de Futuro

El Future Simple con will es tu opción básica para planes y predicciones: "I will call you tomorrow" o "It will rain this weekend". Para preguntas: "Will you come to my party?"

El Future Continuous describe acciones en progreso en el futuro: will be + verbo-ing. "This time tomorrow, I'll be lying on the beach" - perfecto para presumir de tus planes.

El Future Perfect es para acciones que estarán completadas antes de un momento futuro: will have + participio pasado. "By next month, I will have finished all my exams".

¡Recuerda! También puedes usar "going to" para planes ya decididos: "I'm going to study medicine".

PRESENT TENSES

Present Simple Tense

Future Perfect Continuous

El Future Perfect Continuous es el más elaborado de todos: will have been + verbo-ing. Lo usas para acciones que habrán estado en progreso durante un tiempo hasta cierto punto futuro.

Por ejemplo: "By December, I will have been learning English for three years" - llevarás tres años estudiando cuando llegue diciembre.

Aunque parece súper complicado, en realidad no se usa tanto en conversaciones normales. Es más común en textos formales o cuando quieres impresionar con tu nivel de inglés.

La buena noticia es que dominando los tiempos básicos (Simple, Continuous y Perfect) ya puedes expresar casi todo lo que necesitas. Los demás son para dar ese toque extra de fluidez.

¡Ánimo! No intentes aprender todos a la vez. Empieza por Present y Past Simple, luego ve añadiendo los demás poco a poco.
