Eskiden düzenli olarak yaptığın ama şimdi yapmadığın alışkanlıkları anlatmak istiyorsan used to tam sana göre! Bu yapıyı öğrenince geçmişle ilgili hikayeler anlatmak çok daha kolay olacak.

Olumlu cümleler için formül çok basit: özne + used to + fiilin yalın hali. "I used to swim when I was a child" dediğinde "çocukken yüzerdim ama artık yüzmüyorum" anlamına geliyor. Tüm öznelerle aynı şekilde kullanılıyor - he, she, it için değişmiyor.

Olumsuz cümleler için dikkat et: "didn't use to" şeklinde kullanılır, "didn't used to" değil! "I didn't use to travel alone" gibi. Bu çok yaygın bir hata, sakın takılma.

Soru cümlelerinde "Did" ile başlıyorsun: "Did you use to play computer games?" Cevaplar da basit: "Yes, I did" veya "No, I didn't."
