Gelecek Zaman (Future Tense)
İngilizce'de gelecek zamanı ifade etmek için iki temel yapı kullanırız: going to ve will. Bu iki yapı arasındaki en önemli fark, planlarımızın kesinlik derecesidir.
Going to yapısını kesin olan, önceden planlanmış gelecek olaylar için kullanırız. Örneğin: "I'm going to visit my grandparents next weekend." (Gelecek hafta sonu büyükannemi ve büyükbabamı ziyaret edeceğim.) Bu cümlede, ziyaretin kesin olarak planlandığını anlıyoruz.
Will yapısını ise gelecekte yapılacak ama tam olarak kesin olmayan durumlar için kullanırız. Mesela: "I will study maths Saturday." (Cumartesi matematik çalışacağım.) Bu cümlede niyet var ama henüz kesin bir plan yok.
İpucu: Bir olayın ne kadar kesin olduğunu düşün! Bilet aldıysan, randevu yaptıysan "going to" kullan. Sadece niyetin varsa "will" daha uygun olacaktır.
Going to yapısının olumlu cümle yapısı şöyledir:
- I/You/We/They + am/are + going to + fiil
- He/She/It + is + going to + fiil
Olumsuz yapıda ise:
- I/You/We/They + am/are + not + going to + fiil
- He/She/It + is + not + going to + fiil
