Configuración Electrónica: La Casa de los Electrones

Imagínate que los electrones son inquilinos buscando apartamento en un edificio gigante llamado átomo. La configuración electrónica es exactamente eso: cómo se distribuyen los electrones en sus "apartamentos" llamados orbitales cuando el átomo está en su estado más relajado.

El principio de mínima energía es como una regla de oro: los electrones siempre van a buscar los lugares más cómodos primero (los de menor energía). Es como si prefirieran los pisos bajos antes que subir escaleras.

Para saber el orden correcto, usás la regla de las diagonales. Seguís este orden: 1s → 2s → 2p → 3s → 3p → 4s → 3d → 4p → 5s → 4d → 5p → 6s → 4f → 5d → 6p → 7s → 5f → 6d → 7p. Parece complicado, pero con práctica se vuelve automático.

El principio de exclusión de Pauli nos dice que cada orbital puede tener máximo 2 electrones, pero deben tener espines opuestos (como si fueran compañeros de cuarto que duermen con la cabeza en direcciones contrarias). Los subniveles s pueden tener 2 electrones, los p hasta 6, los d hasta 10, y los f hasta 14.

¡Dato clave! Recordá que Z = número atómico = número de protones = número de electrones en un átomo neutro. Y que A (masa atómica) = protones + neutrones.
