L'Alfabeto Greco: Le 24 Lettere che Hanno Cambiato il Mondo

Ti sei mai chiesto da dove vengono lettere come la "π" che usi in matematica? L'alfabeto greco è composto da 24 lettere, ognuna con una forma maiuscola e minuscola, proprio come il nostro alfabeto italiano.

Le prime lettere sono abbastanza familiari: alfa (Α, α) corrisponde alla nostra "A", beta (Β, β) alla "B", e gamma (Γ, γ) alla "G". Noterai che molte lettere greche assomigliano a quelle latine che usiamo ogni giorno.

Alcune lettere hanno pronuncie particolari che devi memorizzare. La theta (Θ, θ) si pronuncia "th" come nell'inglese "think", mentre la chi (Χ, χ) suona come "ch" in tedesco. La psi (Ψ, ψ) produce il suono "ps" e la phi (Φ, φ) il suono "ph".

Trucco per memorizzare: Molte lettere greche le conosci già dalla matematica e dalle scienze! Pensa a π (pi), Ω (omega), Δ (delta) - questo ti aiuterà a ricordarle più facilmente.

Le vocali greche sono sette: alfa, epsilon, eta, iota, omicron, upsilon e omega. Alcune rappresentano suoni brevi (epsilon, omicron) mentre altre suoni lunghi (eta, omega). Questa distinzione era fondamentale nel greco antico per il significato delle parole.
