Üçgenlerde Kenarortay ve Ağırlık Merkezi

Bir üçgende kenarortay, köşeden karşı kenarın orta noktasına çizilen doğru parçasıdır. Şekilde görüldüğü gibi, A köşesinden BC kenarının orta noktasına çizilen doğru parçası, A kenarortayıdır.

Kenarortaylar üçgeni özel bölgelere ayırır. Bu bölümlerin bir özelliği, kenarortayın kollara ayırdığı dilimlerin eşit olmasıdır. Yani, kenarortay üçgeni iki eşit alanlı parçaya böler.

Kenarortayların uzunluğu için özel bir formül vardır: Eğer a, b, c üçgenin kenar uzunluklarıysa, a'nın karşısındaki kenarortay uzunluğu |m_a|² = $2b² + 2c² - a²$ /4 formülüyle hesaplanır.
