Fases de Alargamento da União Europeia

Tudo começou em 1957 com os seis países fundadores: França, Bélgica, Países Baixos, Alemanha, Itália e Luxemburgo, formando a chamada "Europa dos 6". Este núcleo inicial estabeleceu as bases para a futura expansão do projeto europeu.

O processo de alargamento avançou gradualmente nas décadas seguintes. O primeiro alargamento ocorreu em 1973 com a entrada do Reino Unido, Dinamarca e República da Islândia, criando a "Europa dos 9". A Grécia juntou-se em 1981 (segundo alargamento), seguida de Portugal e Espanha em 1986 (terceiro alargamento), formando a "Europa dos 12".

Em 1995, com a entrada da Áustria, Finlândia e Suécia no quarto alargamento, surgiu a "Europa dos 15". O maior alargamento ocorreu em 2004, quando dez países aderiram simultaneamente: Eslováquia, Hungria, Chipre, Eslovénia, Estónia, Letónia, Lituânia, Polónia, Chéquia e Malta. Posteriormente, Roménia e Bulgária (2007) e Croácia (2013) completaram a expansão.

Nota importante: Em 2020, ocorreu o primeiro caso de saída da União Europeia - o Brexit, quando o Reino Unido deixou o bloco, reduzindo novamente o número para 27 estados-membros.
