Las Tres Vertientes de España

¿Te has preguntado alguna vez por qué algunos ríos españoles desembocan en el Atlántico y otros en el Mediterráneo? Todo depende de las vertientes hidrográficas, que son como las "rutas naturales" que siguen las aguas según el relieve del territorio.

España se divide en tres vertientes principales: la Cantábrica (hacia el mar Cantábrico), la Atlántica (hacia el océano Atlántico) y la Mediterránea (hacia el mar Mediterráneo). Esta división no es casualidad, sino que está determinada por nuestras cordilleras y mesetas.

La vertiente Cantábrica incluye ríos como el Eo, Narcea, Nalón, Nervión y Bidasoa. Son ríos cortos pero caudalosos debido a las abundantes precipitaciones del norte. Por el contrario, los ríos de la vertiente Mediterránea como el Ter, Llobregat, Júcar y Segura suelen ser más irregulares.

Truco para recordar: Los ríos más largos (Duero, Tajo, Guadiana, Guadalquivir) van hacia el Atlántico porque tienen más espacio para recorrer desde la Meseta hasta la costa.
