Mitoz ve Mayoz Bölünme Arasındaki Farklar
Mitoz bölünme vücut hücrelerinde görülür ve büyüme-gelişme süreçlerinde rol oynar. Bölünme sonucunda ana hücreyle aynı genetik bilgiye sahip 2 yeni hücre oluşur. Kromozom sayısı değişmez, bu yüzden kalıtsal çeşitlilik oluşmaz.
Mayoz bölünme ise sadece üreme ana hücrelerinde gerçekleşir ve sonucunda 4 yeni hücre oluşur. Bu bölünme sırasında kromozom sayısı yarıya iner ve hücreler arasında parça değişimi (krossing over) görülür. Bu özellik, kalıtsal çeşitlilik yaratarak canlıların evrimleşmesinde önemli rol oynar.
Mitozda üst üste birçok bölünme gerçekleşebilirken, mayozda bölünme sadece bir kere gerçekleşir ve 1 kez bölünme evresi geçirilir. Mitoz vücudumuzun büyümesini sağlarken, mayoz üremeyi mümkün kılar.
