Point of View
When you read a story, the point of view determines whose eyes you're seeing the story through. There are three main types of POV that writers use.
First-person POV puts you right inside a character's head. You'll spot words like "I," "me," "we," and "us" throughout the story. This POV makes you feel super connected to that character because you experience everything they do.
Second-person POV is less common in stories and speaks directly to you using "you" and "yours." You'll mostly find this in instructions, recipes, or letters where someone is talking directly to the reader.
Third-person POV comes from someone outside the story using words like "he," "she," "they," and "them." This POV has three variations: objective (just reports actions and dialogue), limited (follows one character's thoughts), and omniscient (knows everyone's thoughts and feelings).
Fun Fact: When authors switch from one point of view to another within the same story, it's called "head-hopping" and can confuse readers if not done carefully!
