Verbul TO BE și utilizările sale
Verbul to be (a fi) se folosește pentru a spune că ceva există. De exemplu, "York is on the River Ouse" sau "The building is at a busy crossroads".
Când conjugăm verbul "to be", avem forme diferite pentru fiecare persoană. La forma negativă adăugăm cuvântul "not" după verb (I am not, You are not). La forma interogativă inversăm ordinea subiectului cu verbul (Am I?, Are you?). Formele scurte precum "I'm", "you're", "isn't" ne ajută să vorbim mai natural.
Acest verb are multe utilizări importante. Îl folosim pentru a vorbi despre evenimente ("The match is at 10 o'clock"), pentru identificare ("This is my car"), pentru a spune vârsta ("Sue is ten years old"), naționalitatea ("We're Swedish"), profesia ("My sister is a lawyer") sau pentru a indica posesia ("Are these bags yours?").
Atenție! Verbul "to be" este urmat doar de adjective, nu de adverbe. Spunem "She is beautiful" (adjectiv), nu "She is beautifully" (adverb).
Când folosești corect verbul "to be", conversațiile tale în engleză vor suna mult mai natural. Exersează zilnic și vei vedea cât de ușor este!
