Afet Türleri ve Deprem

Afetler üç ana kategoriye ayrılır ve her biri farklı nedenlerle oluşur. Jeolojik afetler (deprem, tsunami, heyelan), klimatik-hidrolojik afetler (sel, kuraklık, çığ) ve insan kaynaklı afetler (sanayi kazaları, nükleer kazalar) yaşamımızı doğrudan etkiler.

Deprem konusunda bilmen gereken en önemli nokta, büyüklük ve şiddet arasındaki farktır. Büyüklük Richter ölçeği ile magnitüd cinsinden, şiddet ise Mercalli tablosu ile Roma rakamlarıyla ölçülür. 6 Şubat 2023 depremi 7.7 büyüklüğünde ve X-XI şiddetindeydi.

Türkiye'de üç önemli fay kuşağı bulunur: Kuzey Anadolu Fay Kuşağı (KAF), Batı Anadolu Fay Kuşağı (BAF) ve Doğu Anadolu Fay Kuşağı (DAF). Bu bilgi sınavlarda sık sorulur.

Önemli Not: Depremin etkisi sadece büyüklüğe değil, nüfus yoğunluğu, bina dayanıklılığı ve zemin özelliklerine de bağlıdır.

Tsunami deniz altında meydana gelen deprem, volkanizma veya heyelanlar sonucu oluşan dev dalgalardır. En çok Büyük Okyanus ve Hint Okyanusu'nda görülür.

Volkanizma ve Kütle Hareketleri

Volkanik faaliyetler dünyada en çok Pasifik Ateş Çemberi'nde yoğunlaşır. Volkanlar can kaybına neden olsa da, çevrelerinde verimli topraklar oluşturduğu için yerleşim alanı olarak kullanılır. Türkiye'de en son faaliyete geçen yanardağ Nemrut Volkanı'dır.

Heyelan özellikle Karadeniz bölgesinde yaygın görülür. Trabzon, Rize, Artvin illeri en fazla etkilenen yerlerdir. İlkbaharda kar erimeleri nedeniyle artış gösterir.

Heyelanın temel nedenleri şunlardır: arazinin eğimli olması, yoğun yağışlar, killi tabakalar ve bitki örtüsünün tahrip edilmesi. Depremler de heyelanları tetikler.

Dikkat: Heyelan sonrası set gölleri oluşabilir ve bu da başka afetlere yol açabilir.

Erozyon uzun süreli gelişen bir afettir. Türkiye'de İç, Güneydoğu ve Doğu Anadolu bölgeleri ile Toros Dağları'nda en şiddetli görülür. Nedenleri arasında aşırı otlatma, orman tahrip edilmesi ve yanlış tarım teknikleri yer alır.
