Dünya'nın İç Yapısı
Dünya başlangıçta dev bir gaz ve toz kütlesiymiş, sonra kendi etrafında dönerek yavaş yavaş soğumuş ve bugünkü halini almış. Şimdi içeriden dışarıya doğru üç ana katman var: çekirdek, manto ve yer kabuğu.
Çekirdek en içteki katman ve Dünya'nın kalbi gibi düşünebilirsin. 2890-6378 km derinlikte yer alıyor ve neredeyse 6000°C sıcaklıkta - bu Güneş'in yüzeyine yakın bir sıcaklık! Demir ve nikel gibi ağır metallerden oluştuğu için ona "barisfer" ya da "ağır küre" diyorlar.
Çekirdek iki parçadan oluşuyor: iç çekirdek katı halde, dış çekirdek ise sıvı halde. İçeride o kadar basınç var ki, sıcaklık çok yüksek olmasına rağmen iç çekirdek katı kalabiliyor.
