Propiedades Físicas y Químicas de Amidas y Aminas

Las amidas son compuestos que se forman cuando los ácidos carboxílicos se combinan con el grupo amina (NH₂). Su fórmula básica es R-CO-NH₂ y son más comunes de lo que pensás.

La mayoría de las amidas son sólidas a temperatura ambiente y se disuelven bien en agua. Pero ojo: mientras más grande sea su peso molecular, menos se van a disolver. Sus puntos de ebullición y fusión son más altos que los de los ácidos carboxílicos.

Las aminas, por otro lado, son derivadas del amoniaco (NH₃). Las tres aminas metiladas (metil, dimetil y trimetil) son gases en condiciones normales, mientras que las más grandes pueden ser líquidas o sólidas.

Dato clave: Las aminas tienen un olor muy particular y pueden formar puentes de hidrógeno intermoleculares, excepto las aminas terciarias.

Las reacciones químicas de las amidas incluyen hidrólisis lenta con calor y la formación de sales de amonio cuando reaccionan con álcalis. Las aminas, al tener electrones no compartidos, pueden aceptar protones y formar compuestos iónicos con facilidad.
