Understanding the Structure of Atoms and Mixtures

Building Blocks of Matter
Atoms are the tiny particles that make up everything you can touch or see. Inside atoms, negatively charged electrons orbit around a nucleus containing positively charged protons. When an atom has equal numbers of electrons and protons, it's electrically neutral.

The Periodic Table and Mixtures

Elements in the same group or family share similar properties. For example, elements on the left side are typically metals, while those on the right are non-metals. Just by looking at an element's position, you can predict its properties like metallicity and reactivity!

Solutions are special mixtures where one substance (the solute) dissolves completely in another (the solvent). Temperature, stirring, and surface area all affect how quickly something dissolves. That's why crushing a tablet helps it dissolve faster than keeping it whole!
