Finding Volume of Spheres and Cones

Ever wonder how much water a ball or ice cream cone could hold? That's what volume tells us!

For spheres, use the formula 4/3(πr³). First, measure the radius (distance from center to edge). Then cube that number (multiply it by itself twice). Multiply that result by π, and finally multiply by 4/3. That's it—you've found the volume of your sphere!

For cones, use the formula 1/3⋅h⋅(πr²). Start by squaring the radius to get r². Multiply r² by π to find the area of the circular base. Then multiply the height by 1/3, and multiply that result by the base area. The final number is your cone's volume.

Remember This: For spheres, don't forget the 4/3 multiplier. Many students just calculate πr³, which gives you the wrong answer!

Finding Volume of Prisms and Cylinders

Finding the volume of these shapes is easier than you might think!

For rectangular prisms (like boxes), use the formula x⋅y⋅z. Simply multiply the length, width, and height together. Think of it as finding the area of the base (length × width) and then multiplying by the height.

For triangular prisms, first find the area of the triangular base using (x⋅y)÷2. Then multiply this area by the length of the prism (z). The formula is [(x⋅y)÷2]⋅z, giving you the total volume.

For cylinders (like cans), square the radius and multiply by π to find the circular base area. Then multiply this area by the height. The formula is (r²⋅π)⋅h, where h is the height of the cylinder.

Pro Tip: For all these shapes, you're basically finding the area of the base and then multiplying by the height. This pattern works for all prisms and cylinders!

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
